Have a question? The answer may just be here.

Is the train running today?

  • It's our intention to run the train every day we're open. In the event of inclement weather, we are not able to run. (This can include a number of conditions that make it unsafe to operate, including but not limited to rain, snow, lightning, etc.) Please see below for info on our daily update phone system so you can always be 'in the loop.'

When does the train run?

  • The train runs all operating days, open to close (weather permitting). When it's busy we run approximately every 15 minutes. If it's a more casually paced day, we go when you're here, no need to wait for any minimum number of riders.

How long is the ride?

  • The ride duration is approximately 10 minutes, length is one-half mile.

How old do you have to be to ride?

  • We have had riders from 9 days old  - 100 years old! Suitable for ALL ages. Please note that children 10 and under MUST be accompanied by a responsible adult, NO EXCEPTIONS.

How does the daily update phone system work?

  • We are heavily weather dependent. Wet rail, due either to rain, snow, or in some cases even heavy fog or dew, may cause us to suspend train operations or delay the start of train runs. It is also possible a mid day storm could force us to suspend operations temporarily, or for the remainder of the day. We strongly recommend you call 401-250-3435, EXT 2 before you head out. We update this recording daily, approximately one hour prior to open (so around 10 a.m.) as well as any updates during the course of the day that might be needed. This gives us opportunity to assess track conditions for the day and provide you the most accurate update.

Will I have to wait?

  • On a busy day we keep the train to a pretty strict schedule, with departures every 15 minutes. If we're full when you arrive, your longest wait time should be less than 15-20 minutes. For special event runs (such as Holiday Lights) wait times may be as much as 40 minutes.

Can I make an advanced reservation?

  • Currently we only accept advanced reservations for some special events, not daily operations. All tickets for regular run days are sold on a first come, first served basis.

Can I bring my dog?

  • Service Dogs are always welcome! Well behaved dogs are permitted to ride with their owners. By bringing your dog on the train, you are affirming that your dog will not disrupt our other guests with any unwanted behaviors. We reserve the right to deny pets at our personal discretion if we do not feel satisfied that the animal is sufficiently well behaved/controlled.

How many people does the train hold?

  • Ah, the trick question! We have 18 seats, 6 for each of 3 coaches. At a minimum, we can accommodate 18 passengers per run. However, we can easily carry more than 1 person per seat. Our train manufacturer has set a weight limit of 350 lbs PER SEAT. So virtually any combination of passengers whose combined weight does not exceed 350 lbs may share a seat. Short version: our capacity would generally be somewhere between 18 and 36, at the engineer and/or conductors discretion.

Are you handicap accessible?

  • The train station gift shop is fully accessible by ramp and double doors that are ADA compliant. Unfortunately, the train seats themselves are not engineered to admit any adaptive devices, such as wheelchairs.

How much do tickets cost?

  • For 2024, our prices remain the same. Adults $5, Children under 3 years ride free! We also are honored to provide a discount to all active duty and veteran military members (ID required) of $3.50. Please note that special event pricing may vary. We accept cash, credit, debit, and contactless payment.

Do you sell Gift Certificates?

  • Yes! Gift Certificates are available for purchase inside the train station, good for both train tickets and store items.
